Take a look at some of my recent personal projects.
Select one of the following three areas to look at:

Just Scanning Produce
A play on the words "scanning produce", as in scanning at the cash register in a store and using a computer scanner.
The five foods in the series were cut into a thin slice and scanned with a computer document scanner.

1.6 to 5 Seconds
Long shutter exposures show motion with glow sticks. I decided to show the different motions involved with sports in this project. The title of each photo describes the motion.

Not More Than Just A Dream
I have created a series of images that are about my dreams. Each image depicts an image from a dream I had or represents a theme from a reocurring dream that I have had. The text reveals the different meanings of dreams and dream symbols that are present in each image.
I picked dreams that stood out in my memory, from when I was about 8 to 22.
This project won a Jury prize at the University of Toronto 2015 Art Side Out.

Inside The Lines
With this project I was able to use macro pictures that were very detailed, which I enjoy photographing, while still being able to have a clear and detailed background with the drawn aspect of the image. Images that do not have any or as much close up aspects were also able to have a clear and detailed look to them by being able to combine different focus points within the same image and having a seamless appearance because of the drawn part of the image.

Dandelions
Typically dandelions are seen as weeds and are something you want to get rid of. I planted one inside, in a small pot, and took care of it as you would a regular houseplant. I wanted to show how this unwanted weed can also be a beautiful thing.

Self Portraits
A series of QR codes combined with photographs, when scanned it leads to an animation. The animations can also be found at https://vimeo.com/channels/selfportraits
I often do not like how I look in pictures, as I am sure many others can relate. I am also very shy and do not like to draw too much attention to myself, as well as I don’t like to have my projects focus on myself. So, in this work I am both still hiding and standing out at the same time. I feel I can express myself through photography and animation, in a way I can hide behind it; I am not directly associated with my work in a gallery setting. However, putting myself in each picture is a way to force myself out of my comfort zone, but still being protected by the fact that I illustrated myself in each image. Even though I have put myself in the work I am still hiding myself with it, both literally and in a more emotional aspect. With the lowered opacity of myself in each image I am further hiding myself with my photographs; I am blending into the background, allowing my work to speak for me.
